The road to success in the influencer industry was paved by a few select individuals who continue to lead the pack. Sonya Esman is one of them.

That’s not to drive you away from trying because, as we know it, anyone with serious talent can steer themselves to great heights – and Sonya agrees. Never stop learning. Never stop trying.

Strive for constant knowledge and maintain an open mind. This doesn’t always come in the form of structural education, but rather life experiences like traveling, talking to people, and reading. Then, don’t forget to share that knowledge with the rest of the world.

Set your intention.

If money is your goal, success probably won’t happen primarily because the amount of effort you have to put into YouTube (and influencing) requires insane dedication and real passion. Money can’t replace those intentions.


Don’t overthink it.

Everybody has the chance to influence our culture, share their mind, and shape the future through YouTube and the Internet. If you want to make videos and share them on YouTube, DO IT. Don’t worry about what other people think or see. When you’re self-accepting and not holding yourself to any standards, you’re setting yourself free, and when you do that, you can achieve anything! (Note: Sonya really dives into this topic in her course – it’s a truly refreshing perspective too!)

Focus on your relationships.

Authentically connect with people who are naturally drawn to you – make that your goal. As you build those relationships brands will see value in your content and reach out if your vision and aesthetic aligns with theirs.

Make mistakes.

Mistakes provide us with opportunities for feedback, which enables us to make better choices the next time around. That means stop obsessing over failure. We’re human. Imperfection is inevitable. The important thing is to be receptive and tolerant of the feedback from the mistakes we make.
